John Deere has announced that it has added SmartGrade™ technology to its 950K Power-Angle-Tilt (PAT) crawler dozer. With SmartGrade, operators can improve job site accuracy and their overall quality of work with the Topcon 3D-MC2 Grade-Control System. The system provides precise grading performance without the external masts and cables.

With SmartGrade integrated into the machine, operators can worry less about theft and damage. SmartGrade also eliminates the need to install blade-mounted sensors and components each day. The reduction in setup time gives workers more opportunity to focus on the task at hand.

"The 950K PAT dozer and our entire SmartGrade lineup have been very successful since their respective launches," said Nathan Horstman, crawler dozers product marketing manager for John Deere Construction & Forestry. "It only made sense to put these two innovations together and provide customers with a game-changer in terms of dozer productivity and efficiency on the job site."

With Auto SmartGrade, operators can easily adjust the system when the machine is moving from one soil type to another. Previously, they would need to use a GPS manager and recalibrate the system. Auto SmartGrade also automatically lifts the blade of the machine over heavy loads before track slippage can occur.

Machine dimensions are preloaded into the grade control monitor as well. This can save operators time when it comes to calibrating the dozer.
