According to a recent Purdue University Department of Agriculture news release, the 82nd annual “Farm Management Tour” will showcase five highly successful Indiana farms in Spencer and Dubois counties June 16-17 to give the general public an inside look at what strategies lead fruitful farms.

The tour is open to anyone interested in farm management and family farm business best practices, covering a variety of farm-related topics which will be highlighted in interviews with the host farmers and mini-tours of their properties. Alan Miller, Purdue Extension farm business specialist and coordinator of the tour, said about this year’s tour in the release, "The farmers will share their keys to successful farm management and explain how the management of their operations is changing in response to the vibrant agricultural economy and the changing circumstances of their families. This is an opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experiences of some of the best farm business managers in Indiana."

On June 16, two farms will be visited as part of the tour, one largely covering cattle farming and the other focusing on crop production. On June 17, three farms will be visited, providing an all-access look at a diverse farm with row crops, hay, and cattle, a farm that manages crops and wetland, and another that manages a turkey grow-out operation.

Each of these stops on the Farm Management Tour aim to better inform those interested in farming and agribusiness best practices from successful entities in Indiana. For additional information and registration, visit the tour’s page on the Purdue website.
