Used tractors and older pieces of farm equipment will make their presence felt in a new way during this year's edition of the Northern Wisconsin State Fair.

According to the Chippewa Herald, the event will feature tractor pulls with antique farm equipment, along with people racing used tractors. Racing lawn mowers has become a more popular sport in recent years, and many fairs across the country are hopping on the bandwagon.

Another new feature for the event is the Live and Learn Center, which will be housed in the Outdoor Life Building at the fairgrounds. A number of demonstrations will be held there, along with a couple of standing exhibits about corn and fishing.

"It's an entire center which has hands-on, interactive educational activities for people of all ages," Rusty Volk, the fair's executive director, told the newspaper.

Recently, the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association said it will induct two new members into its hall of fame. Bill Simpson and Ken Smolecki will be enshrined in September, while the organization is also planning on holding its U.S. Open mower races.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19878661-ADNFCR
