The British Open is one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world, as viewers from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond are attracted to the rich history of the tournament.

In the 140th installment of the classic tournament, hosted by the Royal St. Georges Golf Course in Kent, England, golfers from around the world have come to enjoy the classic fairways and greens that the British Isle is famous for, according to PitchCare.com.

The greenskeeping staff is charged with keeping the course in pristine condition throughout the year, a task that requires them to use the latest agriculture technology. Additional crew members were brought in to help with the Open Championship, along with extra machines that were supplied by John Deere from its dealership in Kent, the turfcare website reported.

Among the fleet of John Deere products that are used are six 8500 and 7500E hybird fairway mowers and six 180C walk-behind greens and tees mowers, according to PitchCare.

New models of golf-based John Deere mowers range from the 8000 E-Cut Hybrid Fairway models to the 220 E-Cut Hybrid Walk Greens Mower, according to the company website.
