California mayor helps mow high school fields

The mayor of Half Moon Bay, California has taken the care of the high school athletic facilities into her own hands, as Naomi Patridge has been mowing the practice and game fields for the town for more than three years, according to the Half Moon Bay Patch.

After being elected to the highest post in local government, Patridge decided that she would like to help the high school athletic teams, as she was no longer able to mange the softball team, reported the news source.

Patridge uses her John Deere mower to cut six to eight acres of grass several times a week. She feels the need to do this due to her devotion to the local sports teams, to both ensure the positive aesthetic representation of the town and to ensure the top performance for the young athletes, the Patch reported.

The time that she spends ensuring that the fields are in top condition is a testament to her work ethic. Patridge told the Patch, "If I cross-mow, then it takes me four hours."

John Deere mowers like the one that is used in Half Moon Bay are available in several options, as new models range from the Select Series X700 to the EZtrak zero turn series, according to the company website.
