It seems that some construction companies are not only using green technology to build more energy efficient buildings for their clients, but hoping to take advantage of the savings themselves.

Florida-based builder Dana B. Kenyon Company has installed solar panels to the top of the company's roof which it says will cut energy costs by 30 percent each month.

Although the $250,000 price tag of the solar panel system might scare many people off, after tax credits and a rebate from the state the company only paid $40,000.

The company president Matt Kenyon says it has always been a green company and that installing the solar panels was the right thing to do.

"We're here to embrace [renewable energy], and we've done it by putting our money where our mouth is," Kenyon told NBC affiliate WJXT-TV. "We're trying to help others see that the solution is an easy solution to do."

The company said the panel system is the largest in the Jacksonville, Florida area and should pay for itself in about seven years.

According to the Los Angeles Times, because of state rebates a record number of solar panels were installed in California in 2008.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19012032-ADNFCR
