Deere and Scherer Design Engineering Agreement to Strengthen Self-Propelled Forage Harvester Kernel Processing

According to a recent announcement, John Deere has formed a joint development agreement with Scherer Design Engineering, Inc., in an effort to strengthen kernel processing solutions for its line of self-propelled forage harvesters.

Scherer Design has been in the business of manufacturing aftermarket rolls and kernel processors since 1999. The agreement will allow the two companies to work together to design a more comprehensive set of options to harvest crops and produce quality feed for dairy cows.

"Deere is committed to developing industry leading kernel processing solutions with the goal to drive higher milk production in dairy cows," says Jon Chase, global director, self-propelled forage harvesters and heads. "This arrangement with Scherer will only strengthen Deere's offering and our ability to deliver clear benefits to custom operators and dairies."

As a result of this agreement, John Deere dealers will be able to offer twin-cut replacement rolls for self-propelled forage harvesters in 2017.

This agreement represents another instance where John Deere has formed a partnership to strengthen its product offerings. At the end of March 2016, Deere entered an agreement with Hagie Manufacturing, a U.S.-based high-clearance sprayer manufacturer. Additionally, as 2015 came to a close, John Deere and The Climate Corporation reached an agreement to acquire the Precision Planting LLC equipment business and to enable exclusive near real-time data connectivity between certain John Deere farm equipment and the Climate FieldView platform.
