The 2011 Innovating Sustainability Report by Business Roundtable highlights the work of American companies to better care for and maintain the world's natural resources, as well as to help improve the quality of life of people around the globe. The association, which releases the report yearly, is made up of CEOs of major U.S. corporations, including John Deere's Samuel Allen.

Allen - along with the other executive officers - listed ways in which their respective companies were employing innovations to better preserve the environment and resources internationally.

Product examples mentioned in the report include the John Deere 8320R row-crop tractor, which set a new record for fuel economy in its class at a test lab, a hydro-powered irrigation generator that has solar power back-up, and GreenStar software, which helps farmers in the planting, feeding, and harvesting of their crops.

Talking about the agricultural equipment-maker's commitment to serving those connected to the land with cutting-edge products, service, and solution, Allen stated in the report that "underpinning these efforts is a focus on sustainability."
