Used tractors, their owners and perhaps even some of the people who produced them got together for a three-day event near the Iowa side of the Quad Cities.

The Fall Fest was put on by John Deere, in conjunction with Cedar Valley's TechWorks, which hosted the event on its campus. Dozens of tractors took part during a festival meant to celebrate 50 years of green-and-gold New Generation tractors.

While this is the first time the Fall Fest was held, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier hopes it won't be the last. Business editor Jim Offner noted the event presents an opportunity for John Deere to further cement itself into a community where it already has a solid presence.

Richard Czarnecki, general manager of John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, noted the community responded to the event.

"Every town that you work in where Deere is a part of the community, we try to embrace the community and in turn the community embraces us and have a positive role and model for our employees, people who have worked for us, especially in a community as important to us as Waterloo," Czarnecki told the paper.

Whether another Fall Fest will be held remains to be seen.
