The Farm Progress Show 2009 will open in Decatur, Illinois on September 1 and run through September 3, the 56th annual showing of the event featuring farm equipment field demonstrations, livestock demonstrations and crafts and entertainment.

More than 500 exhibitors will be on hand displaying new farm equipment, tractors, combines and other farm implements from different agricultural equipment manufacturers and suppliers. Field demonstrations include side-by-side equipment, tractor and combine performance comparisons on hundreds of corn acres available for harvesting and tillage demonstrations, according to AgWired.com.

Since 2005, the show has rotated every other year between its permanent site in Decatur and a in Boone, Iowa. The Decatur site was expanded for the 2007 show to host more than 600 exhibitors and record numbers of visitors.

Called the nation's largest outdoor farm show, the Farm Progress Show offers visitors, producers and agribusinesses a grand stage for shopping their wares and seeing the sites.
