Although this year saw the true arrival of winter get delayed until the new year, it will likely come on strong in certain regions of the U.S. Those Americans who have used John Deere equipment to clear their driveways can get ready to do so again, as snow is being dumped on areas around the country.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the northern suburbs of Chicago on January 17, along with several areas of Illinois. These areas may be hit with more than five inches of snow and will face winds in excess of 25 miles per hour.

Travel in these areas will become dangerous due to the conditions, according to the news source, and individuals who lack the proper equipment may not be able to free themselves from their driveways.

Snow is also expected for areas further west of Chicago, as western Montana was also given a similar warning. According to the Missoulian, the state is expected to be "dumped on" during a big storm.

"We're expecting a pretty significant storm moving into the Northern Rockies here over the next several days," Jennifer Pallister said Monday during a National Weather Service Missoula telephone briefing. "And so with that, we're going to have some pretty large impacts."
