While farmers have always noted the importance of John Deere farm equipment, homeowners also love tractors and riding mowers from the agricultural giant.
John Carlson, a lead writer for the Muncie Star Press, noted that his favorite machine in his garage has become his John Deere lawn tractor, beating out his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
According to his article, he was given the tractor by a relative and has used it more than any other tool in his garage. Carlson noted that nothing is more relaxing than mulching leaves while riding around on his John Deere.
"But driving my little tractor, I can mulch my fallen leaves to my heart's content, an act that, in my head, I equate with harvesting," the columnist noted.
He also noted that the new lights that were put on the most recent models allowed him to work into the night during the end of the fall season, helping him gather all of the leaves on his large property.
John Deere began producing lawn tractors in 1963 with the introduction of the model 110 machine. The original equipment was produced at the company's Horicon, Wisconsin plant, according to Tractor Data.
