There were up to 50 competitors at the first ever Irish Hedgecutting Championships in Kilbline, Bennettsbridge, on January 15, as the entrants tried to outdo their peers in a series of events revolving around agricultural activities, according to Kilkenny People.

The news source reported that the event organized Nigel Whiford explained how a world record was set at the championships, as this was the largest number of working hedgecutters in one place at the same time.

According to the news source, the event also featured a series of tractor pulls and other contests centered around older models of farm equipment. While some of the attendees were focused on the competition, others gathered to look at the variety of antique tractors that visitors brought to Kilbline.

The town's website noted that the competition took place during the afternoon, where the weather was comfortable and the crowd grew as the day went on. Winners were congratulated with a small prize and cheers from visitors.
