According to a recent press release, the John Deere and Company C&F Tech initiative is expanding its presence in North Dakota adding North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D to its program list in the state.

The John Deere dealer technician program operates in an effort to develop additional qualified technicians for the construction and forestry workforce. The program is comprised of a two year associate’s degree which allows participating students to get hands on experience troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, and rebuilding diesel equipment used by John Deere customers nationwide.

Jeff Kraft, division manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry, says about the new program in the release, "The world's growing population calls for an even greater need of infrastructure equipment and those who can keep them running. This new college will provide the knowledge and skills needed for a successful and rewarding career at a John Deere dealership and help resolve technician shortages."

The C&F Tech program is a partnership between John Deere, its dealers (in this case RDO Equipment Co.), and select community colleges around the United States. Applying knowledge developed through dealership work experience, along with the college curriculum, will likely better prepare students in the region to have success in related professional careers.

"The expansion of our private-public partnership with John Deere and RDO fills a critical need, especially in this region," says NDSCS President John Richman in the release. "And the benefit to our students is more than the access to the most up-to-date technology and equipment. Ultimately, this partnership launches very successful careers with RDO for our students."

John Deere’s C&F Tech program will give students at the North Dakota State College of Science an opportunity to be better prepared for a career in the construction and forestry industries.
