John Deere and a number of other industry partners are supporting today’s 41st annual National Ag Day, which is celebrated in classrooms and communities across the country to mark a nationwide effort to tell the true story of American agriculture, according to a recent press release on the National Ag Day website.

This year’s celebration of National Ag Day, which has taken the theme "Agriculture: 365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed," will be promoted nationwide by a number of producers, agricultural associations, corporations, students and government organizations, including the Agriculture Council of America (ACA). The ACA will host major events in the nation’s capital including the Mix-and-Mingle Luncheon and the National Celebration of Agriculture Dinner. Additionally, the ACA will bring approximately 100 college students to Washington to deliver the message of Ag Day to the Hill.

According to the release, the National Ag Day program encourages every American to understand how food and fiber products are produced, appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products, value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy, and acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.

As today’s population continues to grow, each American farmer is responsible for feeding more than 144 mouths, a dramatic increase from 25 people in the 1960s. This demand in food production will continue to challenge farmers to do more with their resources and farming equipment, and National Ag Day is aiming to spread this positive message and get more individuals involved.
