John Deere and Company is set to join more than 800 exhibitors at the 2013 Big Iron Farm Show September 10-12 at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, West Fargo, ND, as visitors have an opportunity to connect with peers, attend training sessions, and view field demonstrations.

The Big Iron Farm Show is entering its thirty-third year and has become the largest farm show in the upper Midwest, focusing on agribusiness. This year’s field demonstrations, scheduled 1 to 3 p.m. daily, will turn a focus towards innovations pertaining to planting equipment, according to a Farm and Ranch Guide article. The vendors will be using colored seed with row-crop planters, air seeders and precision planting equipment. Each participating company will have five to 10 minutes to talk about their equipment before demonstrating it in the field.

Prior to each demonstration, there will be a 30-minute educational session by North Dakota State University Extension crop and soil specialists focusing on topics including corn planting, soybeans and cereal and pulse crops. The second half of the demonstrations “will focus on NDSU's newly formed soil health initiative. Six NDSU researchers and scientists who conduct soil health research and Extension Service efforts will use a soil pit as an aid to discuss the importance of managing land to improve soil health. They will discuss crop and range management strategies land managers can use in adapting to changes in climate, cropping systems and environmental situations,” according to the Farm and Ranch Guide article.

The Big Iron Farm Show is one of the largest and most important events to agribusiness, according to the Farm and Ranch Guide. John Deere will join hundreds of exhibitors at this year’s show, connecting with visitors and sharing their latest innovations.
