Authorities continue to look into two theft rings that were busted up recently by law enforcement officers in New Jersey.

According to the Salem County, New Jersey, newspaper Today's Sunbeam, members of the state police are still finding equipment tied to the two criminal organizations. Recently, additional equipment with a total value of $97,000 was found by officials.

In all, 10 people have been arrested in relation to the crime, though the two theft rings appear to have operated independently of each other. In all, the two organizations stole about $1 million worth of heavy machinery, and representatives of law enforcement agencies said they believe that total will increase, the paper said.

Authorities are also questioning other people who bought the some of the stolen equipment in order to determine if they were aware that it had been taken.

Though some may have been the victims of these alleged crimes, others may be able to avoid such an outcome by properly securing their equipment. That would include removing batteries or taking out ignition switches when machinery is not being used.
