There are a few things people can do to help their lawn in the fall.
As leaves being falling from the trees, many consumers may be thinking about the end of their yearly lawn duties.

However, autumn may provide a number of opportunities to get a lawn ready for next spring's growing season. A recent report from MichiganLive.com featured the advice of Ron Calhoun, who is a turf grass specialist.

Calhoun, who is attached to Michigan State University, noted that Labor Day and Thanksgiving are two of the most important times when it comes to adding fertilizer to a lawn.

"We can do more now to impact how the lawn will look next year than at any other time of the year," Calhoun told the news site.

This time of year generally sees cooler temperatures, which Calhoun said leads to lawns concentrating on root growth. Adding fertilizer can help that and also improve grass density.

Meanwhile, homeowners may also consider taking their used tractors out to turn fallen leaves into their own fertilizer. Other fall lawn duties may also include clearing out branches and getting one last mow in before the winter comes.
