While many across the country may choose to maintain their used tractors as part of their ongoing farming operations, some also take distinct pleasure in doing so.

According to a report in Rochester, Minnesota's Post-Bulletin, Denis Post of nearby Mazeppa recently built a tractor with two engines "for fun."

"After you fix tractors for 30 years, you need to do something different," said Post, who used to work in a John Deere shop.

Post said he started working on the used tractor, which he hadn't used in years, in August 2008. He designed and built the retrofitted machine as he went along, building the second engine from used parts from his shed. In all, the new machine uses three hoods, and two drive shafts joined with two end yokes. The throttle runs to both engines, which are controlled by a radiator.

Even after they are rebuilt, used tractors need constant care to stay in top condition. Users should make sure to keep the body free of rust, and change its oil and spark plugs regularly, especially when the machine has two engines.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19922257-ADNFCR
