A number of rural areas in the country that may see farm equipment roll up and down fields have also received funds that will help with community facility projects.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, $11.8 million will go to 19 different facilities projects. The funds were made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"The Recovery Act funds announced today demonstrate continued efforts to rebuild and revitalize rural communities throughout the country," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said.

The funds are awarded through the USDA's Rural Development's Community Facilities Program. Money from the program can be used for projects that are intended for public use, such as hospitals, police stations and assisted-living facilities.

In this latest round of funds announced by the USDA, Tennessee's Lawrence County will receive a loan of $165,000 and a grant of $29,000 in order to renovate its judicial center.

The ARRA was signed into law last year with the intent of trying to improve the state of the nation's economy. According to a government website dedicated to tracking the money made available through the act, more than $158.7 billion has been awarded.
