A new piece of John Deere farm equipment is slated to be tested at a tractor lab located at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

According to Nebraska's Columbus Telegram, the new 8320R boasts better visibility and 320 horsepower. The university's Tractor Testing Lab will run it through a number of trials, which the paper noted that farm equipment company will use when marketing the tractor.

"The reason we find it important is because it's third-party, nonbiased data," Matt Arnold, a spokesman for John Deere, told the Telegram regarding the test lab. "And that's the best data to advertise in our minds."

The paper noted that the new piece of agricultural equipment is the first upgrade for the company for that size of tractor since John Deere put the 8430 model on the market in 2005. Roger Hoy, who is a professor at the university, said that John Deere tractors are noteworthy for their fuel efficiency.

With a new tractor on the market, and with the data provided by the lab, perhaps Deere will see improved sales of agricultural equipment in the coming months. Recently, the farm equipment company reported that it expects fourth-quarter sales to be down by 34 percent, while sales for the entire year are predicted to see a 29 percent decline.
