John Deere machinery will play a significant role in preparing a New Zealand stadium for competition, a published report states.

The playing surface at Forsyth Barr Stadium will be under the purview of a property manager who must use Deere equipment, according to the agreement finalized on Wednesday. Drummond and Etheridge, whose specialty is the management of golf and turf, will have Dunedin Venues treat the playing surface with Deere turf management equipment.

"This partnership with one of the world's leading turf equipment providers is a huge endorsement for the stadium," said Sir John Hansen, Dunedin Venues board chair. "Dunedin Venues is now in a unique position, with not only superb equipment, but also support and access to the John Deere network of expertise."

John Deere mowers are likely to be among the machinery to help manicure the property in preparation for competition.

"The decision process for major assets and services is a comprehensive process," according to David Davies, Dunedin Venues chief executive officer. "We believe it is really important to get the very best deal. John Deere has presented both the best financial and technical proposal. With the experience and knowledge within the Dunedin Venues turf team, combined with the John Deere products and equipment, the Stadium pitch will deliver outstanding events for the whole community."
