The 35th annual River Hills Antique Tractor Club Old Timer's Day was recently held for the seventh time at picnic grounds north of Perryville, Missouri. The event, located near and to the south of St. Louis, attracted between 500 and 600 people - a number twice that of any other previous year - club vice president Jerry Davis told the Southeast Missourian.
He added that inclement weather affecting farming operations boosted the attendance, as growers "didn't get to do anything else, so they're here." Agricultural activities included wheat threshing, corn grinding, hay baling, sawing and blacksmithing, as well as a variety of tractor games, including tractor basketball. Classic farm-related equipment - including John Deere tractors - was exhibited, a flea market took place and there was a tractor parade, the news source reports.
Harvesting, forestry and used construction equipment, from combines to balers and Gator utility vehicles, are available from John Deere dealers nationwide.
According to the company website, the 8 Series of round balers features triple-weave DiamondTough belts and square-wire MegaTough teeth that withstand even the roughest crops.
