The John Deere 70 Row-Crop Tractor line was initially launched in 1953 by the agricultural giant and more than 43,000 of the original models were constructed at its Waterloo, Iowa plant. The vehicle featured all of the latest technological advances at the time and was released as a larger model than the 50 and 60 versions, according to Tractor Data.

Featuring a "bulged frame," the Model 70 Tractor had a larger engine than previous models and was available in a Rowcrop front wheel configuration as well as a Standard and Hi-Crop design. Each of the modifications could come with a diesel engine or an LP gas engine if the owner needed these additions, Retired Tractors reported.

The Model 70 Tractor came with manual steering with an option for power installation. The vehicle also came with a maximum 24.5-gallon fuel capacity, 1.75 auxillary capacity, a power take-off of 540 rear RPMs and broke the 50 horsepower level, reported Tractor Data.
