QS World University Rankings: UC Davis Ranks No. 2 in Agriculture and Forestry

For the fifth year in a row, the University of California, Davis, has been named one of the top schools for agriculture and forestry. The university was second place in the QS World University Rankings, published on March 7.

The rankings are conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds, a leading international university rankings provider.

UC Davis is the most cited and published U.S. research university in agricultural sciences, environment and ecology, and food science and nutrition. The school’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences focuses on solving critical issues surrounding food, water, energy, climate change, and human health.

This year, Wageningen University (Netherlands) took the top spot in the in the QS World University Rankings for its agriculture and forestry rankings. UC Davis was followed by Cornell University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the University of California Berkeley.

Cornell and UC Davis have also been recognized for their biological/agricultural programs by U.S. News and World Report in the past. In the 2016 list of best undergraduate biological engineering and agricultural programs, Cornell was ranked seventh, while UC Davis received eighth place.

Iowa State University had the top program according to U.S. News and World Report in 2016. It was followed by Purdue University – West Lafayette, and the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign.
