Many producers took to visiting the Quad-Cities Farm Equipment Show recently, despite the fact that prices on futures may be down and the economy in general has had a rough time.

According to Iowa's Quad-City Times, the Farm Equipment Show's official list puts the total number of exhibitors at 224, many of whom the paper said were busy hosting guests at their displays.

Janet Hodel, who is with the Illinois Soy Bean Association, said the show's attendance seemed to do better than others that occurred earlier in the year. That may be because farmers were still busy out in the fields due to a harvest that was delayed by wet weather.

"This crowd is wonderful," Hodel told the Times, adding that she enjoyed meeting farmers from Iowa.

The paper noted that some farmers may have been interested in new grain drying technology, especially with the wet weather parts of the country experienced last year.

Though moisture delayed the harvest, the most recent report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture showed that 2009's crop yields saw record amounts for both corn and soy beans, which has led to a drop in grain prices.
