Recently, a boy who had been facing cancer got to fulfill a dream involving John Deere farm equipment.

A recent story from New York's Press-Republican newspaper recounted the plight of the Monty family as 7-year-old son Dylan Monty dealt with leukemia. He was diagnosed with the disease when he was 3 and finally beat it in July of this year.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leukemia is the cancer with the highest incident rate in children aged 1 to 4 years old. For every 100,000 children, about eight are diagnosed with the disease in that age group.

Along with finally defeating his cancer, Dylan got the added delight of being granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through the organization, Dylan and his family - who are from Saranac, New York - got to visit the Illinois headquarters of farm equipment producer John Deere. The family made their trip the same month Dylan finally fought off his leukemia.

Along with the trip to the headquarters, the paper reported that employees for the agriculture equipment company put up their own money in order to buy gifts for Dylan, which included purchases made at the company's store.

"My top bunk is still full of stuff," Dylan told the Press-Republican.
