The New Year's Day auction of the renowned collection of toy farm tractors belonging to the estate of a lifelong Northeast Ohio man drew significant attention, according to a published report.

Only one model from the Precision John Deere series was missing from the collection of the late Elmer R. Burbick, 72, of Columbiana County. But the collection did hold 10 international and 11 Allis-Chalmers. It also held almost 450 tractors that were non-precision. Garner Auctioneers of Carrolton, Ohio presided over the auction, which drew the interest of 165 bidders. Sixty-three registered online and 102 registered in-house.

Two notable Deere models that were purchased were a Precision John Deere 4020 equipped with a mounted 237 picker and a John Deere 40 crawler that sold for $170 and $225, respectively. The crawler, which was made in 1954, was equipped with a blade.

The Big Bud 16v-747 silver anniversary factory edition, which was new and still in the box, was the biggest seller. It brought in $300.

Burbick, who was born and raised in Columbiana County, died September 20, according to a media report. He was a construction laborer and he worked for an assortment of contractors in the region.
