The Gathering of the Green event in Davenport, Iowa, began as a way to bring collectors of John Deere tractors together, but the celebration has grown to accommodate more than 2,000 enthusiasts who own the used farm equipment, according to the Quad-City Business Journal.

The news source reported that the John Deere tractor enthusiasts will be gathering together for a total of four days at the Davenport River Center, and here they will be treated to more than 60 technical and historical workshops, 78 vendors and a host of used farm equipment to admire. The event has grown by a significant amount since its inception.

"This has absolutely just mushroomed from 2000 when we had 750 people to 2010 when we had over 2,000 people from 37 states all over the country, Canada, the Netherlands and Australia," Ken Reese, co-chair and co-founder for the event, told the Journal.

According to the event's website, there will be a number of speakers at the event, several luncheons and dinners and optional factory tours of the John Deere facility in Davenport.
