John Deere is one of those brands that may stick with a family, as machines and the affection for them are passed down between generations.

Count Ohio's Scott family among those, as the Crawford County farm family has owned a used tractor manufactured by John Deere for more than 40 years, according to a recent story from Lancaster Farming.

The equipment was first purchased by Elton Scott and was eventually taken on by his son Donovan. Now, the latter's grandson, Dalton, is using the machine sparingly in order to keep it in showcase condition.

"I am really glad that grandpa had the mower restored and passed it along to me. We don't use it very much," Dalton Scott said. "It is put away in safekeeping, but grandpa takes it to a couple tractor shows every summer."

Keeping a used tractor in top shape may bring the same kind of returns that the Scotts have experienced. Along with engine maintenance - including changing filters, oil and sparkplugs - owners should make sure the keep their tractors clean and free of rust.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19909441-ADNFCR
