This week will mark the first ever John Deere Fall Fest, a time for people to gather in Waterloo, Iowa, and take a look at older used tractors produced by the company.

According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, the three-day event will be held on the Cedar Valley TechWorks campus starting on Thursday, September 9. Along with memorabilia, used tractors from different eras will be on display.

The location could be considered rather appropriate, since John Deere has a manufacturing presence in the town. Recently, the farm equipment company said it is investing in a foundry located there, which should help create jobs for the local economy.

Many of the machines featured during the event will be from the New Generation of tractors produced by John Deere. Thad Nevitt, factory manager of the company's facility in Waterloo, said that these pieces of farm equipment brought changes in the industry during the early '60s.

"Industry-leading technology and manufacturing are key attributes that are still core to our business strategy today," Nevitt told the paper.
